EL PAPEL DE LOS HONGOS MICORRÍZICOS EN LOS ECOSISTEMAS: CONECTANDO LA VIDA BAJO TIERRA

Resumen


Los hongos micorrízicos desempeñan un papel esencial en los ecosistemas terrestres al establecer asociaciones simbióticas con las raíces de la mayoría de las plantas. Estas interacciones permiten la formación de redes subterráneas complejas conocidas como la Wood Wide Web que facilitan el intercambio de nutrientes, agua y señales químicas entre individuos vegetales. Esta revisión aborda la diversidad morfológica, genética y funcional del reino del reino fungí, destacando los filos clave involucrados en la formación de micorrizas, así como sus estrategias ecológicas como saprofitos, patógenos o mutualistas. Se profundiza en la coevolución de los hongos con otros organismos y en la importancia de las redes micorrizas para la resiliencia, estabilidad y dinámica de los ecosistemas.
